welcoming our little one....the almost leap day baby.

I am so excited our little Cruz is here. Cruz Milo Jenkins was born February 28th, 2012 at 8:40 p.m.. He weighed 6 lbs. 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. He looks like Logen in his facial features a lot except he has a lot of dark hair. For those who have read this blog often, or know us well...will remember that Logen was bald when he was born. He had no hair so it was a huge surprise to us for Cruz to have so much. We are delighted and in love.

Logen still hasn't figured out what being a big brother means. He doesn't seem to care or notice Cruz much but I'm sure it will set in soon. He does enjoy stealing Cruz's pacifier whenever he can but for the most part, he seems happy about the new change and unphased.

Cruz's due date is March 10th but we knew because of a few complications that we were likely going to be induced the last week in February. I showed up for all my tests and consultations on the 28th fully prepared to have a baby but at the first, it seemed like I would be going home. Jared and my brother were especially hoping for a leap day baby so they werent too upset, however they scheduled an induction for the end of the week if it didnt happen earlier. It wasnt till the very end of my non stress test that they decided they should induce because I was still measuring small and their were some inconsistencies on the test. I knew once they gave me the pitocin, it wouldnt be super long even though my brother still held on to the hope that we would deliver on the 29th. I was only in labor for 6 hours with Logen and ended up about 4 1/2 hours with Cruz. Everything went really well and we were excited to start our journey as a family of four.
